UNOZERO Shines in Daily Star Feature
“The Modelo 1.0 is the most comfortable soccer boot in the game,” Unozero’s website insists. And it’s hard to argue.
The Modelos boast a premium full K-leather upper. This K-leather moulds perfectly to your foot shape with no break in time needed.
This ‘ready to wear’ feeling means you can throw them on and get stuck in immediately.
These boots, handmade in Italy, also boast perhaps my favourite soleplate of this project. I loved it because of the fact that even though you could tell it was ultra strong, it also bent enough to give a sense of dexterity, perfect for shooting off on the turn.
The sole plate’s firm nature also gave a real spring off the ground, adding to a feeling of explosive speed.
These boots are no doubt best on a firm ground surface, with dainty conical studs offering enough grip and not too much drag. The rubber bottom on the studs also nicely clutched to the ball when I took them for a spin in an 8-a-side game on a 4G surface.
At one point I scored a goal from the edge of the box where I opened up my body as the ball was delivered, and cushioned it with my instep into the top corner.
The totally K-leather instep with no stitching over it meant the ball did exactly as I intended.
These boots are also deceivingly light, despite the leather and stitch combo making them look and feel durable and heavy duty.
My first impression of the Modelos was that they would be perfect for a central defender or a rough and ready central midfielder, but I think I was perhaps blinded by their classic look.
They are light enough for a fast winger or a skillful number 10, genuinely a great all round boot.
